I'm looking at back up so that I can start bringing up machines without access to a network mirror and I wondered if I could generate one from the other [09:09] Mrfai (~lange@malzmuehle.informatik.uni-koeln.de) joined #fai. [13:45] I'm trying to set the hostname from dns during install (rather than in pxe as a kernel parameter) I have a bash script in class that gets the hostname using getents, sets it using both hostname and sets the $HOSTNAME variable in the script. The classes are then chosen based on the new hostname but the final hostname is still host. Where else should I be looking? [13:46] what is the content of /etc/hostname? [13:47] host on the new install, I'm making my changes during the install environment and theres no /etc/hostname for fcopy to put a file in there [13:49] ah sorry I think I see something in FAIBASE/10-misc where if there is no file it echos $HOSTNAME to the file. I guess my change to the variable is local to the script I'm running [13:49] is there a way to change the variables globally? [14:07] I guess I'll just edit 10-misc to read in the new hostname if the current $HOSTNAME is host [14:23] did you already do it and it worked? [14:24] yes, thanks!
