[08:13] Hi , all , i am trying to use FAI to make automatic installations for machines .At the moment i have made a custom file in disk_config/FAIBASE file , but it uses predefined size of the disk ( viz setting machines for 300GB or so), If i want to use dynamic allocation viz make settings so that FAI can automatically calculate disk space of machines be it 80GB [08:13] or 160 GB or 1 TB , automatically [08:14] can anyone guide me on creating partition.FAIBASE hook script to achieve disk independence [08:15] you can use the class system and multiple disk_config files, or you can use a min and max for each size. E.g. 1G-30G [08:17] multiple disk_config files , is a problem , since there would be around 100 users , who will have various disk configurations [08:20] Can we write a partition.FAIBASE hooks file to create a dynamic file at run time , which creates a disk_config file with the correct table according to the specifications of the target system , after calculating disk space using fdisk on that partition [08:21] and then setup-storage can use that customized disk_config/FAIBASE file , to create the desired partition [08:24] there is a link where someone has used this idea to create dynamic file at runtime using python , and has also pasted the python script , but the solution is not working , can we create something of this sort in shell script of Perl [08:24] http://www.akasig.org/2007/02/09/how-to-install-dozens-of-custom-linux-boxes/ [08:29] I think your main problem is to have 100 different disk configurations. You should try to lower this number. [08:29] And try to use the min and max values in the disk_confiug files. [09:20] ok , let me put it this way , i want that the there should be only one grub entry at boot for fai , which automatically calculates disk space and creates 2 partitions ( 1 for /boot -500 MB , and rest for root / ) [09:20] is it possible ? [09:20] please advice [09:24] primary /boot 10-500 ext4 rw,noatime,errors=remount-ro [09:24] primary / 1- ext4 rw [09:25] oops, I forgot the first line: disk_config disk1 fstabkey:uuid [09:33] My example disk_config file is of form [09:33] disk_config /dev/sda bootable:1 [09:33] primary /boot 500 ext4 rw,noatime,errors=remount-ro [09:34] primary - 20000 - - [09:34] disk_config lvm [09:34] vg my_vg sda2 [09:34] my_vg-swap swap 4096 swap sw [09:34] my_vg-root / 12000 ext4 errors=remount-ro [09:35] please advice how should i make changes [10:32] If anyone has a solution , please mail me at android.grove@gmail.com [10:32] thanks in advance [11:31] sneumann_ (~sneumann@router-sub.ipb-halle.de) left irc: Ping timeout: 480 seconds [11:32] ritesh (c2ed8e14@ircip4.mibbit.com) left irc: Quit: http://www.mibbit.com ajax IRC Client [12:48] ErKa (~keryell@APuteaux-154-1-18-198.w83-199.abo.wanadoo.fr) joined #fai.
