[12:45] Hi, how can I make a host reboot automatically without having to press enter after pxe install [12:45] Ahh fai-chboot -IBv [13:05] Next question, how can I make FAI stop the fai-chboot process once the install has completed (without intervention) [13:05] I've now got a looping install :) [13:07] How are you starting the fai install? [13:07] fai-chboot -IBv hostname [13:08] The VM has the PXE set at top boot order [13:08] Normally the install client call fai-chboot -d at the end of an installation. [13:08] Mrfai: Ok, will look.. I'm using my CD based configs so may be missing a step [13:09] Mrfai: Does the fai-chboot -d get called on the install client? [13:09] no. the install client uses ssh to call this command on the install server. Therefore you have to set up the LOGUSER account. [13:10] This is normally done by fai-setup [13:11] Ahh, cool, thanks! [13:22] Joel (~joel@lcw-212-23-5-1.zen.co.uk) left irc: Quit: leaving [13:47] joel (~joel@lcw-212-23-5-1.zen.co.uk) joined #fai. [13:48] I don't suppose anyone here uses PXE booting via KVM and gPXE. Pretty much nailed the install process now, but getting stuck right at the end. Once the install has completed, the server reboot, tries to PXE (which is now disabled), can't find an image, but insteead of timing out hangs and then restarts the PXE process [13:49] NIC set to 1st boot, HD set to 2nd [13:49] .. so it *should* work [13:51] http://www.pastie.org/private/gprgmbtrbjaphxnb6x1w is my kvm command [13:52] yes, it should boot. Do you have multiple NIS in the vm? Maybe it tries to boot from the other NIC? [13:52] verwilst (~verwilst@router.begen1.office.netnoc.eu) joined #fai. [15:23] Can anyone tell me which disk/scsi parameters are changes when installing via FAI? It seems like the disk write performace is 50% of what it should be [15:37] Maybe a different disk driver? In the past (several years ago) DMA was not always enable on IDE drives. [15:38] you can install sysstat into the nfsroot can let iostat run during an installation [16:02] Hmm thats an interresting option [16:07] Mrfai: with 'a different disk driver [16:07] do you mean phy, file or tap? [16:08] justleen (~leen@rev-131-102.virtu.nl) left irc: Quit: Leaving. [16:17] I don't know what kvm is using as disk driver [16:24] Ok, thanks for the tip and i will try run a test during install, although i have to lookup how to do that. [16:25] I use iostat -xk 5 [16:25] this prints statistics every 5 seconds [16:29] I know how iostat works, just not how to add a test to fai :) [16:33] login via ssh and call iostat in this terminal [16:35] sep (~sep@40.211.jostedal.no) left irc: Ping timeout: 480 seconds [16:37] Mrfai (~lange@malzmuehle.informatik.uni-koeln.de) left irc: Quit: leaving [16:42] verwilst (~verwilst@router.begen1.office.netnoc.eu) left irc: Quit: Ex-Chat [16:57] ErKa (~keryell@APuteaux-154-1-79-104.w83-204.abo.wanadoo.fr) left irc: Ping timeout: 480 seconds [16:57] sep (~sep@40.211.jostedal.no) joined #fai.
