09:59 tecneeqhi gents, i have a problem with fai (on squeeze). I installed everything according to the dokumentation, and it seems to work. the nfsroot is mounted, the target gets installed, the config space is seen. however, the installed target can't boot because /boot/grub/grub.cfg is empty
10:01 mikaptecneeq: which fai version?
10:02 tecneeq3.4.4
10:02 tecneeqcomes with squeeze
Mrfai (~lange@suenner.informatik.uni-koeln.de) joined #fai.
10:08 mikaptecneeq: and which config space? do you use class GRUB_PC?
10:09 tecneeqthis is what i used: FAI_FLAGS=verbose,sshd,createvt,syslogd FAI_ACTION=install
10:10 tecneeqshould be FAIBASE, nothing else
10:10 tecneeqi changed the disklayout in disk_config/FAIBASE and the changes are there, so it's used
10:11 tecneeqahh, i see, i have to add GRUB_PC, it's not default ;)
10:12 tecneeqneed to test it
10:14 mikapyes
11:02 tecneeqworked, but then i ran out of space on some aufs. turns out fai can't install with only 128 megs. 256MB works fine.
11:02 tecneeqthanks mate
11:02 oz_tecneeq: you need to add swap ;)
11:03 tecneeqi have swap. 256 MB on the target disk
11:03 oz_during the installation?
11:05 tecneeqcan't tell, installation is over ;)
11:05 oz_prolly not. ;)
11:05 tecneeqi can take a look into the logs, maybe i see something swapon'ish
11:08 tecneeqhmm, swap was enabled this time, so i guess it was enabled when it ran out of diskspace too
11:09 tecneeqaufs was a filesystem with 60mb, some kind of ramdisk i guess
11:09 tecneeqit doesn't get bigger if you enable swap
11:11 oz_no
11:11 oz_it shouldnot get bigger
11:12 oz_but the install maybe succeeds also with 128MB ram
11:13 oz_while that is _really_ little ram

11:21 tecneeqno problem, we don't have actual hardware with less than 2GB, it was just a KVM-guest
11:22 oz_;)
11:24 tecneeqshould be added to the guide under requirements (chapter 3.1)
ErKa (keryell@m3.wifi.enstb.org) left irc: Ping timeout: 480 seconds
11:49 \shhmm..wasn't there also a problem with standard d-i and less then 256MB of memory?

12:34 MrfaiIn FAI it's a ramdisk for /var/lib/dpk which needs about 90 MB. That means the overall amount of the host must be 180MB. But since FAI 3.4.0 you can disable this ram disk by setting the variable FAI_RAMDISKS=NONE
12:35 Mrfais/dpk/dpkg/

13:20 mgoetzeat work i have a class which checks the available ram and disables ramdisks if it's too low... maybe we should include something like that in examples
14:01 Mrfaigood idea

14:48 markohi, I need to install packages from two different debian repositories but I don't know where to put the "deb http://... lenny main" line for the second repository. Can someone give me a hint?
14:50 marko/etc/apt/sources.list is used to set up the nfsroot only, isn't it?
14:51 Mrfai/etc/fai/apt/sources.list is used for the nfsroot
Also ein wishlist bug.

18:57 opaflammehi
18:58 opaflammesomeone can explain me how skiptask works...
19:00 opaflammei have create a hook file debconf.CENTOS with skiptask debconf
19:01 opaflammeand in the le log, there is : skiptask: not found
19:03 mtI think it should work if you called your hook debconf.CENTOS.source
19:03 mtbecause skiptask is just a function defined by FAI
19:03 mtanother option is to mimic skiptask's behavior
19:04 mttouch $LOGDIR/skip.debconf
19:04 mtin your debonf.CENTOS hook
19:12 mikapopaflamme: do you use /bin/sh instead of /bin/bash in the hook file? if so: use /bin/bash
19:13 mikapmt: oh hi, good to see you here :)
19:13 opaflammeyes i use : #! /bin/sh i test with #! /bin/bash
19:14 mikapit's part of my (yet unofficial) FAQ -> http://grml.org/fai/faq.htm
19:20 opaflammethanks a lot
