I want to start the live rescue system and then install Ubuntu on command line. [17:01] I managed to install Lucid with the automated fai installer (gnomehost), but I cant boot the FAI rescue system! [17:02] When I boot the Live System, I get '/target/tmp/rebootCD: no such file or directory' [17:02] 'End of /usr/svin/fai' [17:02] I am using FAI 3.3.5ubuntu3 [17:17] TeTeT (~spindler@217.41.232.26) joined #fai. [20:38] Nick change: msantana -> msantana_afk [21:26] gorgos: uh... if you want a rescue system try grml... [21:28] mgoetze: i dont want a rescue system, as i said, i want to boot a live system and then install ubuntu on command line with fai. [21:30] never heard of anyone doing that before [21:30] then again, i don't even use fai-cd... [21:31] maybe you know a workaround how to add a simple live system to a chroot environment f.e. ? [21:32] no, i'm not even sure what you mean [21:33] what exactly you dont understand? [21:34] since you can't boot a chroot, i don't see what "adding" a live system to it is supposed to mean [21:35] anyway i've never created a live cd of any kind since mikap does such a great job of it [21:37] alekibango (~alekibang@ip-94-113-35-25.net.upcbroadband.cz) left irc: Remote host closed the connection [21:38] ok, well maybe mikap: can help, i am really stuck and theres not much documention for it available [21:40] well obviously that's not the way fai is designed to be used, thus there is no need to document it [21:42] Nick change: msantana_afk -> msantana [21:42] it was the only tool i found, that seems to do what i need [21:43] the only other option would be working with the ubuntu installer source code :/ [21:44] you know, saying what you want to do, rather than how you are failing to do it, generally gets more useful input [21:47] i need a way to install ubuntu with a custom installer [21:47] right so... use fai the way it was meant to be used? [21:47] the name "rescue system" sounds like a hint that it's normally not needed... [21:50] 19:01 < gorgos> I managed to install Lucid with the automated fai installer [21:50] so you see you have already solved the problem [21:50] anyway, i'm going to sleep, gnight [21:50] ok, i need to be more precise, I want a custom installer that I can put on a LiveCD. [21:51] So you can edit the configuration after creating the cd [21:51] ok, gn then [21:52] again you are saying how you want to do it, not what you want to do [21:52] you want to be able to change certain parameters before/during the installation [21:53] so you could say that that's what you want, rather than insisting that you want some livecd/rescue system... [21:53] if you want to use a normal livecd, use fai dirinstall [21:54] or you could just do a normal fai installation with some interactive scripts in the class phase... [21:54] Well, the installer should have an own GUI, so you have to boot a LiveCd or anything?! [21:54] GUI... haha... [21:54] go hire a programmer, then [21:55] gnight [21:55] gn [22:58] alekibango (~alekibang@ip-94-113-35-25.net.upcbroadband.cz) joined #fai.
