[20:26] I'm running into problems with the default grub configuration. FAI is hosted on a Debian Lenny system, and is being used to install Ubuntu 10.04 LTS. The drive is listed as /dev/hda1 in the grub config, but needs changed to /dev/sda1 to boot properly. Is this caused by the FAI menu.lst generation, or something in Ubuntu? [21:03] a wild stab in the dark- did you use /usr/bin/setup_harddisks instead of setup-storage? [21:03] afaik setup-harddisks still does things the old way (/dev/hda1 etc) [21:04] I don't remember which I used, it was working for Ubuntu 8.04, then after adding 10.04 this problem started appearing. Is there a way I can check? [21:07] hmm, do you have the string "setup_harddisks" in one of your hooks/ ? [21:07] in your config-space, that is [21:09] /srv/fai/config/hooks# grep setup_ ./* [21:09] nothing is returned [21:09] Try grep -rn setup.*harddisk /srv/fai/config [21:10] nothing [21:11] ok, I've exhausted my tiny reportoire of FAI expertise... [21:11] :) [21:11] Thanks for the attempt anyway ^_^ [21:11] All I know is that seutp_harddisks does things the old way, and perhaps this influenced how grub set things up [21:15] I guess what I'd do is do another fai-install, but set it so that its verbose and doesnt reboot afterwards, then 1) check the logs in /tmp/fai/* for hdX occurances, and 2) look at if setup-storage was run or setup_harddisks in /tmp/fai/fai.log [21:15] I gues you could just look at the logs saved on the fai-server, if you've set that up [21:16] I don't have the logs saved on the server at the moment. I'll re-run the installer tonight and check for those when I get in tomorrow morning. [21:16] :) good luck [21:16] Thanks [21:37] siggg (~jean@tra78-5-88-172-128-32.fbx.proxad.net) joined #fai. [21:38] david_: so fstab is ok but menu.lst is not? [21:41] david_: also, what kernel are you running on your install system? [21:43] fimblo: btw, setup_harddisks is used unless class/*.var has USE_SETUP_STORAGE=1 [21:56] aha! thanks for the info. not that I'll ever use it or anything, but all trivia is interesting considering I'm a hoarder of old, worthless knowledge [21:56] :) [22:57] siggg (~jean@tra78-5-88-172-128-32.fbx.proxad.net) left irc: Quit: Leaving.
