'host-*'/'host-\*' as an hostname does not work? [09:44] fai-chboot can't use wildcard. But you can use a template. Or create a pxelinux.cfg file using fai-chboot and rename it, so it matches a whole subnet range [09:45] Since pxelinux.cfg file names are the IP address in hex, you can't use hostname wildcard there. [09:58] hm, ok.... subnet range sounds great :) [10:00] so... the hostname then must be .0/24 in hex, e.g.? [10:01] or only 10.0.0.? [10:28] uchimata: 10.0.0. [10:28] naboul: thx :) [10:47] can I use wildcards when using templates? [14:45] hi [14:46] I've got a problem with fai 3.3 [14:47] the config directory doesn't get mounted on the client [14:47] while the nfsroot is successfully mounted [14:48] if I try to manually mount the config directory it complains about rpc.statd not running, which is true [14:48] launching rpc.stard manually works - so why isn't it automatically launched? and how can I fix that? [14:48] s/stard/statd/ [14:57] or, as a workaround, it could be mounted with -o nolock - but where should I add this option? [15:01] Adri2000: so I think statd must be running on the fai-server? [15:01] mount.nfs: rpc.statd is not running but is required for remote locking. [15:01] mount.nfs: Either use '-o nolock' to keep locks local, or start statd. [15:02] as I understand it, it should be running on the client [15:02] but in any case it is also running on the server [15:02] so did you try it with running statd on server-side? [15:04] yes, it's running the server from the beginning [15:04] but what is needed for the mount to work is that it's running on the client [15:08] strange :) [15:11] what is strange? that fact that statd must be running? or the fact that it isn't running on the client? [15:13] that it is not running on the client, never had this problem [15:13] but I'm not a fai expert though ;) [15:29] allee-k (~allee-k@alleehol.mpe.mpg.de) left irc: Ping timeout: 480 seconds [15:51] Is it possible to copy files from my FAI server to the client? [16:02] Mrfai : thanks [16:09] is there a way to copy entire directories? like dcopy when thinking of fcopy ;-) [16:17] uchimata: I'm not sute i understood the question but using "-r" may help you [16:17] sure* [16:18] Nabilou: jep, it's an nice option, but I would have to create all directories according to filenames..... but it's not an actual question though, rather smalltalk about fai :) [16:24] verwilst (~verwilst@router.begen1.office.netnoc.eu) left irc: Quit: Ex-Chat [16:24] actually my problem is related to upstart - the statd failure is due to /etc/init/statd.conf missing [16:25] it looks like a lot of files are missing in my nfsroot [16:25] uchimata: you can create a loop to list all your files names then create directories. [16:26] exapmple, if I apt-get install nfs-common in the nfsroot, it won't install the files in /etc/init/ [16:26] ...according to the fils names of course [16:26] *files [16:26] there's also a ftar command in FAI.
