After a lot of reading the mailing lists, I still can't find anything specifically relating to using grub2 / grub-pc with GPT disk labels. I've managed to get grub_pc installed, but it sticks after POST, saying just 'GRUB' and nothing else. I'm beginning to pull my hair out. Even tried to install manually after the installer finished. Still no joy. Is anyone out there using GPT for large LVM volumes and has it sucessfully working? [14:35] Joelio: manual install didn't work? [14:43] no, it's just sat at GRUB after the post [14:43] nothing else :( [14:43] I'm sure it's to do with the way my disk_config is written [14:43] I can't seem to find workign examples though [14:46] allee-k_ (~allee-k@p54A434D9.dip.t-dialin.net) left irc: Remote host closed the connection [14:57] BlindBunny (~blindbunn@goetz.informatik.RWTH-Aachen.DE) left irc: Ping timeout: 480 seconds [15:20] allee-k (~allee-k@p54A434D9.dip.t-dialin.net) joined #fai. [15:28] I have it working! [15:28] You need to use just GPT, rather than GPT-BIOS [15:28] allee-k (~allee-k@p54A434D9.dip.t-dialin.net) left irc: Remote host closed the connection [15:28] GPT-BIOS makes grub2 hang from my testing.. now all the automation works! [15:32] Haha, now the r410 I've installed doesn't have support for the broadcom network card in the stock lenny kernel.
