[09:53] Hi mgoetze, thanks for replying :) [09:55] First of all, thanks for working on FAI, it's a great tool :) I already set up a debian etch box with fai 3.1.8 and everythings works fine. I use it to install debian etch 32 and 64bit servers so far and I'm trying to deploy lenny clients on my etch box. [09:55] Is it possible ? I installed FAI on a lenny 64bit box in order to make the debootstrap and have a lenny nfsroot which I then rsync on my etch FAI 3.1.8. I had a few errors which are now corrected but i'm stuck on a new one. The install client won't mount the tmpfs partition and then crashes. I thought that it was because my kernel is not supporting unionfs but even with a new one, the error remains... [09:55] /usr/lib/fai/prcopyleft: line 16: cannot create temp file for here document : Read-only file system [09:55] The error is not helping much, just saying that it can't create a temp file on a read only FS, after it, everything is crashing like that too. [09:55] Have you got any ideas ? Thanks a lot :) [09:59] hm. sound as if you'd try to write on the nfsroot [09:59] you system is not running on the intrd? can you check if the system uses the ramdisk? [10:24] Kin: if you want to install both etch and lenny systems from the same fai server, i recommend using only a lenny nfsroot with fai 3.2.17 or higher [10:24] ok guys, thanks for replying [10:24] Kin: also, are you using a custom kernel for your installation system? if so, why? [10:25] Well, we are deploying optimised kernel on our customers box [10:25] Kin: yes, but keep in mind that the installation system is not the same thing as the installed system [10:25] that's why, but i can use the fai kernel for the pxelinux.cfg thats true [10:26] Kin: and the installation system has special requirements (aufs) [10:26] ok for aufs, i thought it was unionfs, i read it somewhere on the fai mailing list [10:37] I'll check this point and i'll get back to you. Thanks a lot for the help :) [10:57] Mrfai (~lange@kueppers.informatik.uni-koeln.de) left irc: Quit: leaving [10:57] Mrfai (~lange@suenner.informatik.uni-koeln.de) joined #fai. [15:23] fai: 3 lange committed revision 5592 to 7 fai: add APT keys from package_config/*.asc files (closes: #363701,#504018) [15:31] hi, i got some cfagent scripts in the scripts section that only should run if $FAI_ACTION = install, is there a smart way to do this? btw. some actions from fai didn't start in softupdate, is there a file to configure softupdate behaviour? [15:57] ebbie: i don't know cfagent that well, but the FAI_ACTION variable should be in its environment [15:58] ebbie: there's no global configuration, basically you just put if statements in any scripts which care [15:58] fai: 3 lange committed revision 5593 to 7 fai: add keys after copying /etc/apt to /target, do copy 10fai [16:00] sep (~sep@40.211.jostedal.no) left irc: Remote host closed the connection [16:03] ebbie: you can also write a hook for softupdate [16:04] mgoetze: i can see the FAI classes in cfagents defined classes, i think i try to add a new class, so cfagent scripts can recognice running in the installation [16:07] Mrfai: but then the scripts always run in softupdate mode? is there a way to stop actions with a hook? [16:07] ebbie: you can use skip_task in a hook, see fai guide [16:08] ebbie: note that if you want to run class/* scripts during a softupdate, you'll need to call fai -N softupdate [16:12] mgoetze: thx, good hint, but i only need the class scripts in installation mode, as i define a "install" class for the cfagent scripts running some scripts only at installation.
