19:09 rgsteele||workHm, if I wanted to allow a daemon to be run in the chroot during installation, would I have to modify the /etc/alternatives/policy-rc.d that FAI uses, or would I have to prevent FAI from replacing start-stop-daemon?
19:11 rgsteele||workCurrently, it looks like FAI diverts start-stop-daemon, AND uses policy-rc.d to prevent daemons from running in the chroot.
19:31 mgoetzergsteele||work: well you could just start it by hand, the real question is why you want to do it...
19:38 rgsteele||workmgoetze: Because, I'm starting LDAP to ensure that the replication is finished before restarting the node and putting it in to production.
19:38 rgsteele||workI ensure that the new node has a fully replicated backend before rebooting it and putting it in to the production LDAP pool.
19:39 mgoetzei don't see why you don't just reboot it, wait for it to replicate, and only then put it in your pool
19:39 rgsteele||workI can find plenty of reasons to want to start daemons during the FAI installation, that's just one of them.  I don't really want to start it by hand, because then I have to source /etc/default manually and a bunch of other crap.
19:40 rgsteele||workmgoetze: Because, I want my machines to be completely production-ready upon reboot.
19:40 rgsteele||workHands-off.  Automation means less overhead, it's why FAI was developed in the first place! :)
19:41 rgsteele||workBut, back to the OP, I think that modifying policy-rc.d to retun 0 for slapd will work.
Action: mgoetze doesn't have to use slapd, fortunately :)
19:45 rgsteele||workFortunately, I get to :)
20:08 rgsteele||workGrr, doesn't seem to be working.
20:09 rgsteele||workMaybe I should temporarily move FAI's start-stop-daemon out of the way
