12:48 \sh14:41 < cjwatson> the canonical source for configuration is the filesystem, not debconf
12:48 \sh14:41 < cjwatson> if they differ the filesystem wins
12:49 \shregarding packages like console-setup this could be a tricky task debconf ;)
12:50 oz_bloody.
12:51 \shwell...
12:52 \shthe fun part: console-setup is installed somehow in the debootstrap (IMHO) with default values like "kbmodel=us"
12:52 \shnow I changed the debconf values to be "de"
12:53 \shdpkg-reconfigure -f noninteractive console-setup (or what fai-debconf does) doesn't recreated the /etc/default/console-setup file, but is reading it, and grepping through the vars and takes the old values and rewrites the new file with old values, not from debconf
12:53 \shtherefore, the debconf always fails
12:53 \shbetter "the debconf way always fails"
12:53 Mrfai\sh: maybe ucf wins, not debconf. Same problem as with grub?
12:54 \shdeleting /etc/default/console-setup and dpkg-reconfigure console-setup ... then it creates a complete new one, and uses the debconf values

20:10 derrellHi all. I'm using 3.2.17 in Lenny. I discovered a bug similar to one reported where vol_id -u returns no UUID on a swap device. In the old report, it was due to needing to run "mdadm --zero-superblock <device>". In my case, the device had never been part of a raid array. I solved the problem with "mke2fs <device>" followed by "mkswap <device>".
20:15 derrellA subsequent run of an FAI install completed the partitioning.
20:16 derrellThere was talk of adding the zero-superblock to setup_storage. I also adding mke2fs for swap devices makes sense?
