| 08:36 verwilst | hellow! |
| 08:37 verwilst | when i try to view the FAI install with SOL ( ipmi ) i can see the BIOS boot and such, but the last line i see is "Loading vmlinuz-2.6.26-1-amd64.....................Ready." |
| 08:37 verwilst | then nothing |
| 08:38 verwilst | i tried setting console=ttyS0 and such, to no avail |
| 08:38 verwilst | any ideas maybe? |
| 08:38 oz_ | verwilst: ipmi is just service |
| 08:38 verwilst | when i tcpdump the nfs server i see that it is starting to use NFS |
| 08:38 verwilst | oz_: sure |
| 08:39 verwilst | but somehow the redirection is not behaving like it should |
| 08:39 verwilst | and i'm running out of ideas on how to fix it :) |
| 08:39 verwilst | it's hard to debug the fai session if i can't see what's happening :) |
| 08:41 oz_ | http://www.brueck-computer.de/index2.php?modul=1403&link=1 |
| 08:41 oz_ | it's nothing with FAI |

| 08:42 oz_ | and I wonder what box you use |
| 08:42 oz_ | I just know ipmi for the Sun VX0z |
| 08:42 verwilst | it's a dell |
| 08:42 oz_ | verwilst: I read the text from the link above and all went well after fiddling |
| 08:43 verwilst | i tried the console=tty0 console=ttyS0,9600n8 before ( as far as i can understand german :) ) |
| 08:43 oz_ | oh. :) |

| 08:49 sepski | how can you enforce a nic order during fai boot? one nic can pxeboot, but the booted linux kernel preferes a different nic as eth0, and hence it never get ip and mount nfs after the initial kernel+initrd tftp transfer. |
| 08:50 verwilst | hm, still can't see anything, this is annoying :P |
| 08:51 oz_ | verwilst: what box are you using? |
| 08:51 verwilst | oz_: a Dell one? |
| 08:51 oz_ | are you using ttyS0 for ipmi? |
| 08:52 verwilst | i tried ttyS1 as well, which just gave funky chars instead of silence :) |
| 08:52 oz_ | ah |
| 08:52 oz_ | funky chars is an improvemnt here |
| 08:52 oz_ | I'd test some baudrates |
| 08:53 verwilst | myeah that's what i thought |
| 08:53 oz_ | maybe dell want 38400 or so |
| 08:53 verwilst | does that really make that much difference? |

| 08:54 oz_ | technically, it's a mess I agree. |
| 08:54 oz_ | +, |
| 09:00 verwilst | oz_: ok, so it was ttyS1 |
| 09:00 verwilst | i checked the BIOS setup thingy |
| 09:00 verwilst | changed baud to 115200 |
| 09:00 verwilst | and see garbage scrolling :P |
| 09:00 verwilst | ( that was the setting in the BIOS ) |
| 09:00 verwilst | maybe it's the n8? |
