I asked about it yesterday evening, but I guess it may have been a bit late in the date to catch many people on european time. [09:16] Basically, pxebooting using dhcp works fine, but the dhcp done as part of the nfsmount doesn't. [09:18] I've got a cisco asa configured as a dhcp relay and I think this is the problem. It's worked in the past though, so I'm not sure what's changed to break it :( [09:24] AJFisher: how many network interfaces in the machine you're installing? [09:25] 2, but I'm running dhcpd in non daemon mode and can see the requests coming in. [09:28] If I run a dhcp server on the same subnet, it works fine. [09:29] is it a switched network? [09:29] yes [09:29] a single netgear smart switch [09:30] for each firewall zone [09:30] can you mirror ports or something in order to run tcpdump? [09:31] Mrfai: You had a very similar problem last June? https://lists.uni-koeln.de/pipermail/linux-fai/2008-June/005980.html [09:31] oh, good idea. Maybe ... lemme check [09:39] Mrfai: did you see the issue, that the installation aborts, if there's a lvm pv/lv still existing on the HD? -> http://home.schottelius.org/~nico/unix/linux/fai/abort-with-lvm [09:56] AJFisher: the dhcp gateway problem should be fixed when you use new versions of klibc. It was a bug in the command ipconfig. I'm not sure if there are still problems with it [09:58] telmich: no. [09:58] So did it get broken again? I'm using the lenny versions of klibc. [10:00] I've just got port mirroring setup and will report back when I've got a suitable capture [10:03] AJFisher: if this is a ipconfig/klibc problem, you should get in contact with their maintainer [10:04] well, I need to confirm that first. But, either way, I'm sure I won't be the only fai user affected. [10:10] yesterday, I also tried not using dhcp at all by replacing ip=dhcp with ip=:::::: [10:11] However I could see from the dhcpd that dhcp was still being used. [10:28] Very odd. I get after the initial kernel boot, I get a DHCP Discover followed by a DHCP Offer then a DHCP Request followed by a DHCP ACK. This seems fine, but I then get continuous DHCP Requests with no Acks ... [10:29] But I can see from the dhcpd that acks are being sent, so I guess my Cisco PIX/ASA is eating them. [10:30] AJFisher: yeah, so you need to capture traffic on the other side of the ASA [10:31] ErKa (keryell@dhcp1.info.enstb.org) left irc: Ping timeout: 480 seconds [10:31] I don't suppose dhcpd is lieing to me and I have fairly recently upgraded the asa firmware by a minor revision, hence my suspicion. [10:33] mt: can i set ext2/3 labels on partitions with partition-storage? [10:35] mt: like so: mke2fs -q -j -Lpostgresql_`basename "$device"` /dev/"$dev"1 & [10:35] mt: and i would like to mk2fs on many raids/disks in parallel :) [10:59] It looks like it is a cisco problem. http://pastebin.com/m2ea4f8b9 [11:04] AJFisher (~alex@82-70-11-70.dsl.in-addr.zen.co.uk) left irc: [11:32] stockholm: I think these feature would be included in the enterprise version of setup-storage. Sponsors welcome ;-) [11:38] Mrfai: i have licenses for the enterprise version [11:39] i bought them at debconf7 by payment of an early adopter spotify account [11:40] that you switched girlfriends inbetween is not my problem :-) [11:40] :-) [11:42] but new features need a new license [11:42] hey hey, FAI installs new girlfriends, too? [11:42] Action: oz_ wants this patch ;) [11:44] this was a major upgrade ;-) very cool new features. Runs out-of-the-box. But this patch is not publicly available [11:46] damn it. :) [11:46] hmph... my girlfriend had to be sent in for a software upgrade (computers are better in that regard), and i'm still waiting for her to come back :( [11:47] and apparently all the new version does is support LANG=zh_CN. not really worth it if you ask me... [14:05] or maybe just cfagent :) [14:07] yes [14:07] that is the thing [14:07] Mrfai: is it included in the free license?
