00:12 AmenophixRRQ from 192.168.0.222 filename pxelinux.0 tftp: client does not accept options
00:12 Amenophixany ideas??
01:22 teratomaAmenophix: I would ignore the 'client does not accept options' error
01:23 teratomaAmenophix: does tftpd booting work for you ?
01:24 Amenophixyes
01:24 Amenophixtftpd work , i can connect to it
01:25 teratomai have been getting that error message for years, i would ignore it
01:25 Amenophixbut, can it be a dns problem?
01:25 teratomano, i think its the fact tftpd is 25 years old
01:25 Amenophixlol
01:27 Amenophixunder dhcpd.conf when i set "next-sever faiserver" i don't see a request for tftpd on syslog, but when i set it to 192.168.x.x i have this error : ÿtftp: client does not accept options
01:29 teratomai always use an ip adress for next-server .  you an ignore  'client does not accept options'
01:30 Amenophixok, but tftp don't get pxelinux.0, and nothing boot
01:30 teratomaso tftp is not realyl working for you
01:31 Amenophixthe client tftp (under vmware) don't work, the server tftpd is OK
01:31 teratomapaste in contents of this:
01:31 teratomagrep ^OPTIONS /etc/default/tftpd-hpa
01:33 AmenophixOPTIONS="-vvvvvvv -l -s /srv/tftp/fai/"
01:33 Amenophixvery verbose
01:33 Amenophixtftpd as daemon or under inetd is Ok, I test it
01:35 teratomadid you " fai-chboot -o default "
01:35 teratomadid you reboot the machine after switching to tftpd daemon mode
01:35 Amenophixno, i use fai-chboot -IFv demohost
01:36 Amenophixyes, reboot, and the daemon was running well
01:36 teratomavmware or real machine ?
01:36 teratomait would be nice to see if the default option works first
01:37 teratomaok so you fai-chboot -IFv demohost ,  then what happens ?
01:37 Amenophixreal machine HP ML350 for the faiserver, my demohost is under vmware
01:37 teratomaso tail the daemon log on faiserver when you reboot your demohost
01:38 teratomais your demohost set up to tftpd boot ?
01:38 Amenophixi boot the demohost, he receive his IP from dhcp server, and try to connect to TFTP, but nothing
01:38 teratomaso do : fai-chboot -o default
01:38 Amenophixoki
01:38 teratomaand see if your demohost will at least try to tftp boot
01:40 Amenophixpxe-e32: TFTP open timeout
01:41 teratomaput in pastebin contents of your dhcpd.conf
01:42 Amenophixhttp://pastebin.com/m5653e1d2
01:43 teratomawhat is ip address of your faiserver ?
01:43 Amenophix192.168.0.250
01:43 teratomatry replacing faiserver with that in 'next-server faiserver'
01:43 teratomanext-server 192.168.0.250
01:44 teratomanext-server 192.168.0.250 ;
01:44 Amenophixi'ev already done that, and after my demohost got his IP, I don't see TFTP client launching..
01:45 Amenophixi re-test it
01:46 teratomaadd this to that block
01:46 Amenophixdone, dhcpd restart, demohost boot..IP =ok...
01:46 teratomaserver-name 192.168.0.250 ;
01:49 Amenophixit doesn't work at dhcpd restart
01:50 Amenophixit must be a name
01:51 teratomacan you 'ping faiserver' on your HP ?
01:51 Amenophixyes, with 127.0.1.1 as result <-- I don't like it
01:52 Amenophixi try to delete it from /etc/hosts
01:52 teratomafaiserver is the name of the HP ?
01:52 Amenophixyes
01:52 teratomado you have a line in etc/hosts that says
01:52 teratoma192.168.0.250 faiserver
01:52 Amenophixyes
01:52 teratomatry making your /etc/hosts on your HP be
01:52 teratoma127.0.0.1 localhost
01:53 teratoma192.168.0.250 faiserver
01:53 Amenophixping faiserver now is set to 192.168.0.250, logical

12:38 Bluemoonfunktioniert make-fai-bootfloppy mittlerweile mit der neuen FAI-version? :)

22:16 Williamhey guys
22:17 Williamtrying to get raid 5 working with fai-kernels 1.17 and fai-server 3.1.8
22:17 WilliamI have raid levels 0 and 1 working fine with the SW_RAID hooks
22:17 Williambut I seem to be missing the raid 5 kernel (as reported elsewhere) when trying to install raid 5
22:17 Williamwhat is the preferred method for getting the correct kernel working?
22:23 h01gerwhat distro are you using?
22:23 h01gerfai-kernels is loooon dead
22:23 h01ger+g
22:24 Williamthis is etch
22:24 Williamand yes, we've been using it for quite a while
22:27 h01gerheh
22:27 h01geryeah, i just got an email saying that fai-kernels was updated in etch
Action: h01ger is using fai 3.2.4 on etch and no fai-kernels anymore.
22:29 h01geri'm not totally sure if latest fai is supposed to work with etch, but i do think so. but then i assume, thats not an option for you
22:29 h01geris raid 5 working with the 2.6.18 kernel from etch? but not with fai-kernels from etch?
22:30 h01gerthen you should compare the kernel configs, set the option in fai-kernels kernel config and rebuild the package
22:30 h01gerthen you should compare the kernel configs, set the needed option(s) in fai-kernels kernel config and rebuild the package
22:30 Williamraid5 works fine once the machine reboots
22:31 Williamwhen the machine is booted with the fai kernel and I look at /boot/config-2.6.18-fai-kernels
22:31 WilliamI see "# CONFIG_MD_RAID456 is not set"
22:32 Williamit's really just to set that to "CONFIG_MD_RAID456=m"
22:32 Williamand rebuild the package?
22:32 h01geryes
22:32 Williamdelightful, I'll give that a whirl. thanks :)
22:32 h01gerincrease the version number in changelog too :)
22:32 Williamyeah, I'm down with debchange
22:32 h01gerelse on the next upgrasde.
22:33 h01ger..
22:33 h01ger:)
Action: h01ger is not sure if this is the only config option needed for raid, but.. in principle thats it
22:33 WilliamCONFIG_MD_RAID0=m
22:33 WilliamCONFIG_MD_RAID1=m
22:34 Williamthose are already set, so I'd hope so
22:35 FBIfai: 3 mt committed revision 5256 to 7 fai:  fixed broken patches - somehow I managed to make one patch unpatch earlier ones
22:38 h01gerWilliam, if you send a bugreport to the BTS, severity important, with a tested patch, i probably will upload a fixed version for an etch rX update :)
22:38 Williamh01ger: noted, thanks :)
22:39 h01ger:)
22:45 Williamh01ger: the changelog for the 1.17+etch.23etch1 kernel package up on the debian site doesn't mention it, but  the config files seem to have raid5 enabled already
22:46 h01gerhuh
22:46 h01gerwhich version have you been using before?
22:47 William1.17+etch.22etch2
22:49 h01gerhmm
22:49 h01gerthat change should have been in the changelog..
22:49 h01geri didnt do it
22:49 h01ger:)
22:49 h01gerthe last i have on my disk (in an obvious place) is 1.17+etch3
22:49 h01ger(and 1.18)
22:50 Williamhttp://packages.debian.org/changelogs/pool/main/f/fai-kernels/fai-kernels_1.17+etch.23etch1/changelog
22:50 h01gerwhich is just updated for 2.6.20..
Action: h01ger bows to dannf. he is doing an awful great job as stable kernel maintainer
22:51 h01gerWilliam, so does 1.17+etch.23etch1 work for you?
22:51 Williamlooks like it will, updating my repo and trying shortly
22:52 Williamwell, updating my repo and upgrading my fai server and THEN trying :)
22:52 h01ger:)
Nick change: amenophix -> amenophix|afk
23:59 Williamh01ger: I have the updated package installed on my fai-serer and ran make-fai-nfsroot, however, I still seem to have the old kernel being installed
23:59 Williamthe fai-kernels package installed
23:59 William /usr/lib/fai/kernel/linux-image-2.6.18-fai-kernels_1_amd64.deb
23:59 Williamand that's the same file referenced in my /etc/fai/make-fai-nfsroot.conf file. ideas?
