[14:50] i'm having trouble getting cfengine scripts to execute during FAI, and i can't figure out how to test them manually. i keep getting "Warning: actionsequence is empty" and "Warning: perhaps cfagent.conf/update.conf have not yet been set up?" [14:50] how can i tell cfengine to just use the file i give it as a script, and not anything else? [15:02] have a look at the simple examples. They include also cfengine scripts [15:03] yes, i tried to copy from scripts/FAIBASE/40-misc [15:03] rgsteele||work (~ryan@75.147.74.137) joined #fai. [15:08] but it doesn't seem to do anything [15:08] if i just run it as "./script" i get the warning about actionsequence being empty [15:08] er, i mean, then nothing happens, and i get the warning if i run it as "cfagent -f script" [15:09] even simple "echo" commands in shellcommands section [15:10] http://pastebin.com/d2e94d0bc [15:10] surely it should at least display some output from the echo commands? [15:10] exit status is 0 [15:31] if i change the script from scripts/FAIBASE/40-misc from "#! /usr/sbin/cfagent -f" to "#! /usr/sbin/cfagent -d -f" i also get the warning about actionsequence being empty [15:31] (when calling it as "./40-misc") [16:02] raphink (~raphink@193.252.149.222) joined #fai. [16:57] ErKa (~keryell@adsl.cri.pck.nerim.net) left irc: Ping timeout: 480 seconds [17:07] is it possible to get fai to save logs locally? [17:32] fai does this by default [17:32] where? [17:34] /var/log/fai [17:34] rgsteele||work (~ryan@75.147.74.137) left irc: Remote host closed the connection [17:35] oh, sorry, i looked in /var/log but had an optical malfunction apparently :) [17:35] mgoetze: See the LOGUSER and FAI_LOGPROTO configuration variables. [17:42] hm, during execution of class/* scripts, "/bin/hostname" should give the same result as "echo $HOSTNAME", right? [17:44] normally yes, but there are situations wher this is not the case (by intent). [17:45] Mrfai (~lange@suenner.informatik.uni-koeln.de) left irc: Quit: leaving [17:46] will it give the fqdn or just the local-part? [17:48] i seem to be getting only the local-part, or is there something else wrong with my script "(ifclass FOO) && (/bin/hostname | /usr/bin/cut -d. -f2)"? [17:50] hostname returns the local-part only. [17:50] If you need the FQDN, use hostname -f. [17:50] ok, thanks [17:52] (wie immer frag ich mich, warum ich hier eigentlich englisch schreibe) [18:03] mgoetze: mach nüx, oder? [18:04] ich hab mit englisch keine schmerzen, aber es antworten eh immer nur deutsche :) [18:07] but the do use english :-) [18:07] I think it's nice [18:07] ppl sometimes complain, when we use too much german [18:08] and noone in here has problems with english I think that's why it's good as it is [18:14] hm, in editfiles section of a cfengine script, i'm trying to do 'ReplaceAll "FAI_CONFIG_SRC=.*" With "FAI_CONFIG_SRC=something"' [18:14] but cfengine complains about "non-convergent edit operation" [18:14] how can i prove to cfengine that this is actually convergent? [18:58] hm, i just installed a server via fai, and it saved its' classes to /var/log/fai/foo.bar.tld/install-something/FAI_CLASSES [18:58] but when i try to run fai softupdate, it searches for /var/log/fai/FAI_CLASSES [18:59] any hints?
