[15:24] This is Adrian (the onea about the ubuntu 8.10 experience) [15:25] I wanted to download latest launchpad latest bazaar revision but I am using an old computer and bzr refuses to cooperate. [15:25] Do you if there is a nightly build or does anybody wouldn't want to run the command instead of me and send me a tar.gz ? [15:42] And does anybody know how to make an Ubuntu 8.10 as a client (even if it is not with 8.10 as a server)? Thank you. [15:50] adrian15: I can check it out and mail it to you [15:52] lazyb0y: TlazybThat would be nice. [15:53] lazyb0y: I chat in a private conversation with you to give you my email [15:56] Does anybody know what were the unionfs changes that were introduced in 8.04 for avoiding problem with aufs ? [15:57] adrian15: but. apart from that, if your server is not Ubuntu, but only your client, you should only use the ubuntu samle configspace, and make an ubuntu base.tgz [15:58] lazyb0y: Both server and client are Ubuntu 8.10. [15:58] ah, ok then [15:59] lazyb0y: I suppose that Ubuntu package is setup so that it uses that ubuntu base.tgz that you are talking about, isn't it ? [16:01] adrian15: if your server is ubuntu, everything is allright! [16:01] hm. depends ;) [16:02] lazyb0y: I did copy the default examples as it was said in fai-guide.pdf... is it a problem ? [16:03] oz_: What do you mean ? [16:07] I'm prolly leading astray... [16:07] adrian15: again, I only thought you were downloading the Ubuntu package to install on a Debian Server! if that's not the case, everything is fine. (apart from that I don't know the state of FAI in UBuntu, but I guess it's ok) [16:07] I'd just say: I'd prefer debian as server [16:08] he's just thinking that it's not ok to use ubuntu on the server (which I partly share) but these opinionshave nothing to do with the viability of what you are doing :) [16:08] oz_: Me too. But it's my university thesis and Ubuntu is a requisite. I can use 8.10 but I might swich to 8.04 if 8.10 does not seem to wrok. [16:09] its more concnerns about usefulness of Ubuntu for sertvers in general [16:09] lazyb0y: As long as I know Ubuntu 8.10 is setup for serving Ubuntu 8.04 and that's not what I want to do. [16:09] hmm [16:10] don't know about that. I wanted to check the things you wrote these days, but I didn't come to it yet [16:10] lazyb0y: I know it. Let's not flame. I knew that Fai was going to work better in Debian that in Ubuntu because probably fai developers use Debian. [16:12] lazyb0y: I received a private mail from siretart and he told me : "With 8.10 we encountered problems with aufs in the linux kernel. In 8.04 we did work around that by using unionfs and a few hacks to fai. They may or may not still work with 8.10" [16:13] I supose that he means "With 7.10" instead of "With 8.10". [16:17] lazyb0y: When I first saw the fai.conf file I thought that I only needed to change the repository line. [16:49] ErKa (keryell@keryell.pck.nerim.net) joined #fai. [17:00] Do you know if I install ubuntu 8.04, the fai package what will server, ubuntu 8.04 too or and older version ?
