| 12:39 raphink | hi guys :) |
| 12:39 raphink | does anyone have experience with FAI on nexenta? |
| 12:43 BarryAllen | nexenta? |
| 12:44 stockholm | the opensolaris thing |
| 12:45 maswan | we have experience with FAI as postinstaller on solaris and aix, but none of this nexenta stuff |
| MT (~MT@vpn.forsyte.informatik.tu-darmstadt.de) left irc: Ping timeout: 480 seconds |
| 13:00 Mrfai | Mmmm, FAI for nexenta is a nice idea. But it may be some work to get it running, since FAI needs some linux related data, for e.g. /proc/partitions. I'm not sure if a solaris kernel has the same information in /proc |
| 13:02 maswan | Mrfai: What we do is use the native tools for the base OS install, then FAI to get all the customisation in. |
| 13:04 stockholm | maswan: the softupdate way? |
| 13:08 Mrfai | maswan: I did my Solaris 9 jumpstart installations several years ago. I've extended jumstart with FAI. I do not use FAI only in the postinst part, but also when generating the rules file, based on FAI classes. |
| 13:09 Mrfai | But I think the new partition tool could be of interest for nexenta, since it support lvm and softraid. Maybe we should add zfs support ;-) |
| 13:09 maswan | I don't really have the details, I'm rather far removed from these things currently. :) |
| 13:10 maswan | glance knows everything though. :) |
| 13:13 raphink | Mrfai: I was thinking of nexenta becaues we have 90% of Debian here |
| 13:13 raphink | and we plan to use Solaris for ZFS support |
| 13:14 raphink | and I thought nexenta would better integrate (GNU programs, apt-get installation) |
| 13:18 raphink | Mrfai: do you have experience with integrating Solaris 10 in a Linux environment? |
| 13:30 glance | hu? |

| 14:16 BarryAllen | yes, |
| 14:16 BarryAllen | is exactly there.... in the pv |
| 14:16 sepski | how to say disk1:partition2 |
