[12:39] hi guys :) [12:39] does anyone have experience with FAI on nexenta? [12:43] nexenta? [12:44] the opensolaris thing [12:45] we have experience with FAI as postinstaller on solaris and aix, but none of this nexenta stuff [12:46] MT (~MT@vpn.forsyte.informatik.tu-darmstadt.de) left irc: Ping timeout: 480 seconds [13:00] Mmmm, FAI for nexenta is a nice idea. But it may be some work to get it running, since FAI needs some linux related data, for e.g. /proc/partitions. I'm not sure if a solaris kernel has the same information in /proc [13:02] Mrfai: What we do is use the native tools for the base OS install, then FAI to get all the customisation in. [13:04] maswan: the softupdate way? [13:08] maswan: I did my Solaris 9 jumpstart installations several years ago. I've extended jumstart with FAI. I do not use FAI only in the postinst part, but also when generating the rules file, based on FAI classes. [13:09] But I think the new partition tool could be of interest for nexenta, since it support lvm and softraid. Maybe we should add zfs support ;-) [13:09] I don't really have the details, I'm rather far removed from these things currently. :) [13:10] glance knows everything though. :) [13:13] Mrfai: I was thinking of nexenta becaues we have 90% of Debian here [13:13] and we plan to use Solaris for ZFS support [13:14] and I thought nexenta would better integrate (GNU programs, apt-get installation) [13:18] Mrfai: do you have experience with integrating Solaris 10 in a Linux environment? [13:30] hu? [13:39] MT (~MT@16.121.113.82.net.de.o2.com) joined #fai.
