[16:42] I installed the fai server and believe to have it configured properly but the install client boots off the network and loads the vmlinuz kernel from the server and stops when trying to mount the nfsroot [16:43] I get the busy box and stuff then the client gives me a (initramfs) command line [16:44] after checking the live.log on the client it begins to mount the nfs root and then has a whole lot of lines saying RPC failed: 2 [16:44] MT (~MT@dove.informatik.tu-muenchen.de) joined #fai. [16:44] hey MT [16:45] hi Corey! [16:45] unfortunately I'm pretty busy [16:45] ok [16:45] but ask your questions, people will respond ... [16:46] maybe Mrfai has some ideas to solve your problem [16:46] I did just before you logged on [16:46] ah, ok [16:47] on the client machine i tried ps ax and there was no portmap in there. Isn't this needed to connect to other machines [16:50] Corey: I think you have the user space nfs server on your install server. But you must use the nfs-kernel-server [16:51] I had the kernel server and had the same errors then I tried the user server still got the same thing and yesterday they told me the user one is really bad so I removed it and put the kernel sever back on but still get the same problem on the client [16:56] use rpcinfo to check whioch version of nfs protocol is supported by your server. Which command line are you using? [16:56] Action: Mrfai has too leave soon [16:57] Bash [17:03] Corey: http://www.busybox.net/lists/busybox/2007-February/026384.html [17:04] Mrfai (~lange@suenner.informatik.uni-koeln.de) left irc: Quit: leaving [17:14] wfamy (~wfamy@lns-bzn-52-82-65-111-15.adsl.proxad.net) joined #fai. [17:14] is there anyone else that is available to help [17:20] Corey, do you have any other client (just an installed linux client) that you could use to try remote mounts? [17:20] it seems like there is some problem with your NFS setup [17:20] yeah [17:28] on another machine it doesn't recognize the nfsmount command but mount work to the server [17:29] sepski (~sep@217.17.211.51) joined #fai. [17:29] so you can mount the directory from the server on that machine? [17:29] yeah [17:30] but you still can't do it on the install client? [17:30] i used the command: mount 10.0.6.69:/srv/fai/nfsroot /mnt/testnfs [17:30] yes [17:31] please try the following [17:31] on the server [17:31] on the install client if I use the mount command it says no such file or directory but if I use nfsmount it says rpc failed: 2 [17:31] ok [17:31] make-fai-nfsroot -v [17:31] exportfs -r [17:31] retry on the client [17:32] in case it doesn't work, please paste your make-fai-nfsroot.log (just as you did yesterday) to paste.debian.net [17:32] and mail the url of your paste at paste.debian.net to tautschn@model.in.tum.de (that's me) [17:33] I'll be offline for the next few hours, but I'll check it later on [17:33] ok, it'll be a little bit for the make-fai-nfsroot to run [17:33] sure [17:33] something must have gone wrong in the setup of the NFSROOT [17:34] in case I'm still in here, just paste the URL in here [17:34] ok [17:43] Corey, I'm on the leave, just drop me an email!
