[15:36] I keep getting this when making 1.44MB boot floppies "cp: writing `/media/floppy/vmlinuz-2.6.18-fai-kernels': No space left on device" [15:36] I found some mailing list traffic about it but it doesn't really explain what the problem is or how to fix it [15:37] use bigger floppies :-D [15:38] seriously, check if the kernel is indeed bigger than 1.44mn [15:38] mb [15:39] it is, but what do I do about it? [15:39] Action: h01ger suggest to use etherboot enabled floppies only, and do netboot [15:39] and you want to use fai 3.2.1 - check the homepage [15:39] pxe booting not an option [15:39] Mrfai, we should upload fai to backports.org [15:40] Neit, why? [15:40] you can hardcode ips on those floppies too [15:40] Action: h01ger needs to leave now - bbl [15:41] that's what I'm doing...if there's a better way to do it than make-fai-bootfloppy ... "nfsroot=192.168.10.103:/srv/fai/nfsroot" I'd love to try it :) [15:42] that method is not really supported anymore and it might even not work with 1.44mb floppies in etch, as you observer [15:42] and yes, a newer version in etch-backports would be nice [15:42] s/observer/observe/ [15:42] so what's the supported method? [15:43] Mrfai, i think i have a key in the bpo keyring. should i ask for permission to upload? we dont really qualify as its trivial to pin from lenny. and there the ideas dies. can you use pining for /etc/fai/apt/sources.list? [15:45] Neit, http://rom-o-matic.net/ [15:45] Neit, go there. [15:46] Neit, you can hardcode ip + nfs settings there [15:48] nifty...gonna take a while to grok all that, thx :) [15:53] h01ger: yes pining for the nfsroot is also possible but not yet used/tested. [18:15] progress on FAI on Dell 2970: the server needs the bnx2 driver [18:15] on feisty, building a FAI kernel with the 2.6.20 sources does not include it by default, it seems [18:15] looks like the bnx2 driver needs to be injected [18:16] my workaround was to use the etch 2.6.18 FAI kernel [18:16] and then use the ubuntu fai nfsroot [18:19] sounds sensible.
