[16:24] hi there [16:25] there is any way to use fai to install a computer with a OS in another partition? My computer has windows in SDA1, a extented partition in SDA4 and another partition in sda5, i want install linux (using FAI) in SDA6 (swap) and SDA7 root, there is any way to do it? [16:39] yep, it's possible. Have a look at "preserve" for disk_config. [17:48] Mrfai, where should I look for preserve? [17:48] derpeter_ (~ghost@xdsl-213-196-251-234.netcologne.de) joined #fai. [17:51] http://www.informatik.uni-koeln.de/fai/, there's a search for the fai guide [17:51] Mrfai (~lange@xdsl-84-44-228-135.netcologne.de) left irc: Quit: leaving [17:52] thank you [17:55] derpeter (~ghost@xdsl-81-173-169-42.netcologne.de) left irc: Ping timeout: 480 seconds [18:08] Mrfai (~lange@xdsl-81-173-224-35.netcologne.de) joined #fai. [18:59] Lin (igormorgad@200.179.57.57) left irc: Quit: Leaving [20:03] How would you like to call fai-cd when creating a bootable USB stick? [20:03] 1) fai-cd -u -m [20:03] 2) fai-cd -u -m [20:05] maybe both? [20:08] meandtheshel1 (~markus@85.127.108.255) left irc: Quit: Leaving. [20:30] neither? [20:31] one of the things i like about fai-cd in its present incarnation is storing .iso files arround. [20:31] fai-cd will be enhanced, so the old function ofd creating iso image is still possible [20:31] s/ofd/of/ [20:31] so, it'd be really nice if fai-cd for usb sticks would work against a .. maybe a appropriately sized empty file. [20:32] ? [20:32] making it depend on a usb key in the usb slot, then dding the key sounds like extra work. [20:33] currently (in the first version) it just copies all data needed for a fai-cd into a directory. Just a simple cp -a [20:33] making the stick bootable is another task [20:34] well, i just have an objection to a step that requires hardware before creating a image.
